One of the most commonly asked questions about Revelwood is, ‘do I have to be a nudist?’ So I thought I would write a post to clarify any misconceptions.

Revelwood is a clothing optional retreat, which means you don’t have to be a nudist – in fact you don’t have to be nude at any time. But if you have not been naked in a social setting before, we encourage you to try it.

Many gay and bisexual guys suffer body image issues. Social nudity in the company of other guys is a great way to start feeling ‘comfortable in your own skin’. First timers often report a feeling of freedom or even liberation on shedding their clothes.

Wayne and I are regular nudists so it is not uncommon to see us naked too.

Please strip off and have a shower before hopping in the Revelwood spa.

Where can I get naked?

You are welcome to be naked over much of our very private 20 acres. So that we stay on good terms with our neighbours, we ask that guests do not walk nude in view of the road.

NSW law prosecutes offenders who can be seen naked from a public place such as a road.

Although there is no obligation to get your gear off at Revelwood generally speaking, everyone who uses our spa is required to be nude. Like in a Japanese onsen (bathhouse) we thoroughly shower off beforehand and hop in the spa as nature intended. This dramatically reduces the amount of chemicals we need to use. It’s also a great, low-key way to experience social nudity.

All your nudist guests have sex with each other, right?

Wrong! So many people (including a lot of gay and bisexual guys) seem to think that the very act of being nude is an invitation for sex.

While we are delighted to see romances and attractions bloom at Revelwood, social nudity in and of itself is not an invitation for sex.

Social groups such as Sydney Sunboys and Adam in Melbourne offer regular get-togethers for gay and bisexual male nudists. (Unlike Revelwood, they offer nudist events, not clothing optional ones.) If you want to ‘try before you buy’, or if you like what you experienced here at Revelwood, we suggest you pay them a visit.

An important issue for many – especially first-time naturists – is the knowledge that they will be free from unwanted attention. We ask all our visitors to show each other that respect.

Naturism, the act of being naked in nature, feels very primal and beautiful.

What if I get a hard-on?

At many nudist resorts men with erections are frowned upon. Not at Revelwood.

Erections come and go: they are a completely normal part of being a male. We know from experience that many guys who are new to nudism find they get hard as soon as they get naked in public.

That’s not a problem for us – and it shouldn’t necessarily be seen as a come-on either. We’re guessing he’ll find a way of letting you know if his hard-on is accidental or intentional. 🙂

Is it OK to have sex outdoors?

While this is slightly off-topic I figured this was a good a place as any to toss it in, so to speak.

Many guys –including ourselves – love being naked in nature. This is where the term ‘naturism’ comes from. (Indeed, unlike nudists, some naturists only like to be naked when outdoors in natural surroundings.)

Naturism (sometimes mistakenly called naturalism) feels very primal and beautiful – and it can be very erotic.

Also, some guys who visit Revelwood are exhibitionists and enjoy the opportunity to show off. Still others love to pleasure themselves in the sunshine.

None of this is a problem for us unless you can be seen from the road.

There is one other place that we do ask you avoid having sex – and that is the spa. It’s fine to ‘flag your intentions’ but once things start getting serious it’s time to hop out.

Housekeeping

As part of the nudist etiquette, we supply a ‘sitting towel’ to place between you and the furniture when you are naked. Please make use of it.

Tradespeople

All of our tradespeople are gay friendly and aware of our clothing-optional policy. Nevertheless, in the event of tradespeople or professional services being required onsite, we endeavour to advise our guests at the earliest possible opportunity.
